How long can a seller take to respond to an offer? That is a good question and there is no perfect answer to this question.

I would say most of the time, when I submit an offer on behalf of a buyer, we generally give a minimum of 24 hours for the seller to respond. This is just a common courtesy for them to have time to think about the offer and talk with other people whom they may need to consult with prior to making a decision.

Obviously, if it is on the weekend or the seller is out of town and we make an offer on Friday afternoon, they’re not going to be back until Sunday night, then we might give them until Monday to respond to that offer.

So, the answer depends really on what’s going on in the specific scenario, but I would say a minimum of 24 hours is typically how long it takes a seller to respond to an offer.

That said, you can kind of guess on one to two days once you submit an offer. Your agent is going to give you that information so you would know when you could expect to hear back from the seller.
