Hometown Spotlight: Nonna Picci & Nonna’s Garage

Originally opening in 2017, Nonna Picci has become a staple of the Statesboro food scene. If you’ve spent much time around our neck of the woods, someone has mentioned their amazing pizza! Cooked in a 900 degree wood-fired oven, Nonna Picci prides itself on making everything from scratch, including their delicious pizza dough. Their tagline “Just Picci”, is more than a fun pun- it’s a promise to only use the freshest & best ingredients.

While pizza may be their claim to fame, Nonna’s also offers other Italian inspired favorites, like their caprese sandwich featured below. You’ll love their bruschetta- and don’t forget to end your meal with a cannoli! One of my favorite dishes there is the Picci Salad- mixed greens, toasted pecans, dried peaches, bacon and bleu cheese, tossed in a peach-basil vinaigrette. It’s delicious and always reminds me of summer!

If you’re going to go to Nonna Picci, then you have to make plans to check out Nonna’s Garage! The Nonna Picci website has a great quote: “The Garage has an outdoor stage, tiki bar, Garage bar and arcade. With nightly specials, and later hours, it’s where we hang out when Nonna goes to bed.”

Open from 5pm-12am Monday-Saturday & 12pm-12am on Sundays, the garage is a live music venue, arcade and bar all rolled into one! It’s free to enter & is the only place in Statesboro like it. Whether you’re a skee ball fan or a pinball professional, you’re sure to have a great time stopping in and playing a game or two!

Nonna Picci is located at 807 South Main Street in Statesboro, GA. They’re open from 11am-10pm Sunday-Wednesday & 11am-12am Thursday-Saturday. If you’re looking for delicious food from a fun local restaurant, make plans to try Nonna Picci for yourself- you won’t regret it!
