Is it bad to buy a home as is? Well, that’s going to depend.

You can still purchase a home as is, but you should have it inspected. In Georgia we have what’s called due diligence days, which is also know as your inspection time period.

Even if a home seller says its as is, “I’m not fix anything, I’m not going to repair anything”, still get it inspected. It should be inspected because knowing what you’re going to have to deal with is important. You would need to walk through it and look at the cosmetic stuff and see the things that you know you want to update or upgrade on the property.

The home inspection is for things that you can’t see, that you can’t yourself go in and check out. So, once you get a home inspection, you’ll know if this is going to be the right property for you.

That said, it’s not necessarily a bad thing to do an as is sale, but make sure you’re getting it checked out, so that you know what you’re going to have to deal with.
